Drug Collection, Sat 5/14

Make a difference in your community. Bring your unwanted medication to Ruby Isle May 14th, 9am - noon

Doing any spring cleaning? Well now is the time to clean out all your unwanted and expired medications.

Saturday 5/14/11 from 9 - noon Drug Free Communities volunteers will be at Ruby Isle taking all these medications off your hands. Not only will these medications be disposed of in an environmentally safe way, but it is part of a comprehensive plan to fight drug abuse in Waukesha County.

Prescription drug abuse is rapidly becoming the number one drug of choice of 12 - 17 year olds. Seventy percent of youth who abuse prescription drugs admit to getting them from family or friends. As parents, we lock up alcohol and guns while prescription medications sit accessibly in medicine cabinets and drawers.

Waukesha County is seeing a resurgence of heroin addictions. These addictions usually start with prescription drug abuse. Store your current medications somewhere inaccessible to your children or their friends and bring your unwanted medications to Ruby Isle on Saturday or one of the other five sites across Waukesha County. For more information go to www.waukeshacounty.gov/drugcollection

Hope to see you there!
