I Want for Nothing This Mother's Day

The best present a mother could ever have is the love from her child.

Being a mother is how I define myself. When I meet a new person and I’m asked to describe myself, or what I do, the first thing out of my mouth is “I’m a mom.” My son makes me who I am, and I make him who he is (which explains our mutual awesomeness).

People ask what I want for Mother’s day – I already have it. He has my blue eyes and blond hair and a smile that melts my heart. He wakes me up seven days a week with a good morning hug, and does not let a night go by that we don’t kiss before he drifts off to sleep. He helps me unload the dishwasher and gives me his favorite blankey as a “present.” He wants me to share in his life with him, whether it’s playing cars, watching TV, reading a book, or running away from an invisible shark.

He accidentally punches me in the face when he’s telling a wild story, and he asks me to pick his nose when he has boogers. He makes me run to the window whenever there’s rain or snow, sun or darkness, or a car or a truck outside. And if you read my previous post, you know that we love to dance and sing together.

He is my son, he is my life, he is my world. My son loves me and shows me every single day, which is the best present a mother could ever have, the love from her child.

What more could I possibly ask for? Besides someone to clean my house, do the laundry, cook, and an occasional spa day, that is.

So everyone who is wondering what to get their wife/mom for Mother’s Day — think about a hug, a kiss, a thank you, and an “I love you.” Let her know your love her cooking, what she does, who she is, and that you’re a great person because of her. Flattery gets you everywhere with mothers.
