Brookfield Central, East Rank Among America's Most Challenging High Schools

Twenty-seven Wisconsin high schools made the Washington Post's ranking of America's Most Challenging High Schools, which include Brookfield East and Brookfield Central.

Brookfield Central and Brookfield East have made the Washington Post’s list of America’s Most Challenging High School.

In the national rankings of 1,900 public and private schools, Brookfield East was ranked 674 while Brookfield Central came in at 837.

The Washington Post’s formula, the Challenge Index, takes the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year and is divided by the number of seniors who graduated in May or June.

According to the Washington Post:

Brookfield Central has a four-year graduation rate of 99 percent, an average ACT score of 25.1, and 85 percent of students attend 4-year colleges.

Brookfield East has a four-year graduation rate of 98 percent, an average ACT score of 25.8, and 82 percent students attend 4-year colleges.

Neighboring schools districts New Berlin Eisenhower High School ranked 662 and New Berlin West High School ranked 644.

Looking at their placement within the state of Wisconsin, Brookfield East ranked 7th and Brookfield Central 9th, according to an announcement from Elmbrook School District.
