Brookfield East, Broookfield Central Receive Red Quill Awards

The Red Quill Award honors educational professionals who recognize the need for diligent analysis of data and a willingness to develop and enhance curriculum and instruction based on the needs of their learning community.

Brookfield East and Brookfield Central High Schools are again recipients of the distinguished “ACT Red Quill Legacy Award” for 2012-2013. The Brookfield high schools have received the Red Quill Awards more frequently than any other district in Wisconsin since the award program’s inception five years ago.

The Red Quill Award honors educational professionals who recognize the need for diligent analysis of data and a willingness to develop and enhance curriculum and instruction based on the needs of their learning community.  The Legacy Red Quill Award recognizes a long-term commitment to those principles that lead to increased student achievement and systemic improvements.

“It’s an honor to again receive Red Quill Legacy award as it strongly reflects our district’s high college readiness standards,” said Brookfield East Principal Dan Pavletich.

In 2012, Brookfield East and Brookfield Central boasted ACT composite scores that were at historic highs, 25.8 and 25.1 respectively, and ranked in the top ten of all public schools in Wisconsin.

“We take great pride that our ACT scores in Elmbrook have consistently far surpassed the state’s average and continue on an upward trajectory the last several years.   We continue to focus on rigorous curriculum delivered by top-notch teachers,” noted Brookfield Central Principal Don LaBonte. 

In the five year history of the awards, Brookfield East has won the Red Quill Award three times and Red Quill Legacy twice. Brookfield Central has earned a Red Quill Award twice and Red Quill Legacy Award twice. Only five high schools in Wisconsin received the 2012-13 Red Quill Legacy Award.
