Central's Hirsch Nearly Captures Title at Racine Case Invitational

Central's girls are third for best team finish among Brookfield schools; East boys just behind their city rivals.

Brookfield Central's girls were third and the Brookfield East girls were 11th on Saturday in the Eagle Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Racine Case at UW-Parkside on Saturday.

Elizabeth Flatley of Central was the third overall finisher in 14:16, 17 seconds behind winner Alexandria Fons of Franklin. Topping Brookfield East was Madeline Timm in 15th.

On the boys side, Central was fifth and East sixth, separated by just five points (131-136).

Carl Hirsch of Central finished second overall, just four-tenths of a second behind champion Tommy Meister of Janesville Craig. Brad Johnson was the top finisher for East in 10th place.

Through Sept. 24, the Central girls were ranked sixth in the state by the state coaches association and the girls were seventh. The boys and girls varsity Greater Metro Conference championships are Oct. 15 at . Both teams run in the West Allis Hale Sectional at Greenfield ParkΒ  on Oct. 22.
