East Skiiers Take Fourth, Seventh at State Meet

Engstrand unable to complete third consecutive state championship.

Brookfield East skiier Erica Engstrand was not able to "three-peat" at the Wisconsin State Skiing Championships over the weekend, finishing seventh overall at Mount LaCrosse.

The senior won the slalom, took 10th in Super G and 18th in giant slalom for a total of 29 points, tied for seventh place overall. She had been the individual state champion in 2010 and 2011.

The Spartans Michael Amato took fourth in the state on the boys side, taking fourth in slalom, sixth in giant slalom and third in Super G. The Brookfield East boys were 14th as a team and Brookfield Central was 15th. Jack Peterson led Brookfield Central with a 15th-place individual finish.
