The Elmbrook School District is receiving $279,013 this month to purchase materials for school libraries from the Common School Fund, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Statewide, $32 million is being dolled out by the state for the purchase of books, digital materials and technology for school libraries. Each school district is being compensated nearly $25 per child between ages 4 and 20 living in the school district, according to the news release.

The purchases must be made by June 30.

“The Common School Fund supports Wisconsin’s teacher librarians and the resources of our school libraries, which are integral in helping students develop the college and career ready skills they will need to succeed in the future,” said State Superintendent Tony Evers in the news release. “The allocations from the Common School Fund are the main and sometimes only funding available to purchase the school library resources, digital and print, that are accessible to all students in our schools.”
