Meet Gabbie Shiels, New Pilgrim Park 8th Grade Teacher

After completing her teaching residency at Dixon Elementary last year, Shiels says Elmbrook was her top choice. She will be helping with cross-country and is training for a Green Bay marathon.

About 30 new teachers are joining the Elmbrook School District this year, and Brookfield Patch is introducing some to the community as the 2012-13 school year gets underway.

You can read their stories here.

Education, experience: I attended Wisconsin Lutheran College and graduated in May of 2012. Last year, I had a residency at Dixon Elementary in 5th grade.

Why did you choose Elmbrook? For the past year and a half, I have completed my field work requirements in Elmbrook, and have been surrounded by incredibly passionate teachers who want to inspire their students to succeed, dedicated parents, and students who are excited to learn. When it was time to apply for teaching jobs, Elmbrook was my top choice!

Hobbies: I enjoy all sports, watching and playing them. I especially love running and basketball. I am currently training for the Green Bay Marathon! I love to spend time crawled up on the couch reading a good book.

Favorite vacation: My favorite vacation has been to Florida, where I got to truly relax and lay in the sun by the ocean for an entire week!
