Meet Stacy Chapman, New Pilgrim Park 7th Grade Teacher

A recent Cardinal Stritch University graduate, Chapman will teach Language Arts and Social Studies and the new Communication Arts class. She also would love to coach volleyball.

About 30 new teachers, plus new administrators and other staff, are joining the Elmbrook School District this year, and Brookfield Patch is introducing some to the community as the 2012-13 school year gets underway.

Teaching assignment: I will be teaching 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies this year as well as the new class, Communication Arts. In the future, I hope to become more involved in the school, especially with volleyball. I have played and coached for years and would love to coach or assist if I can.

Hometown, current community: I was born and raised in West Bend. It is also where I currently reside. I am looking to move to the Brookfield area next year sometime.

Education, experience: I am a recent graduate of Cardinal Stritch University. I did a great deal of teaching throughout my schooling and ended my time at Stritch by completing two 10-week teaching placements. The first was a 5th grade position at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington. The other was a special education placement at Campbellsport Elementary. Additionally, this summer I taught summer school for the Port Washington-Saukville School District.

Why did you choose Elmbrook? I have no prior connections to Elmbrook. What really drew me to the district were the high standards and expectations that the district upholds and promotes.

Hobbies: I love to design handbags with my mother. We have our own little business on the side. I also love to be crafty and scrapbook whenever I get the chance. However, my true love is volleyball. I have been playing since I was little, and now it is just engrained in me.

Favorite vacation: Last January, I was given the opportunity to go on pilgrimage to Italy with a few other students from my university and other universities around the United States. This pilgrimage was the best two weeks of my life. The sights were amazing and the trip was truly eye-opening. It has been the greatest trip I have gone on thus far.
