Patch Full-Court Press: Tosa East at Brookfield Central Boys Basketball

Video highlights and photo gallery will be part of Patch's coverage, and editors will hand out swag and meet with fans.

Neighboring rivals Wauwatosa East and Brookfield Central each still have an outside shot at the Greater Metro Conference boys basketball championship, but to keep that chance they'll have to win Friday night's matchup at Brookfield Central.

Patch will be on hand with a Full-Court Press, engaging fans and providing coverage of the event. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.

What's the Full-Court Press?

  • A video highlight package of the game, posted Friday night by Associate Regional Editor Matt Schroeder
  • A Fan Photo Gallery, built jointly by Patch editors and Patch users. Take your own photos and upload them through the website or with the Patch smartphone app.
  • A chance to meet Patch editors, including Brookfield Patch Editor Lisa Sink. They'll circulate through the crowd before the game at and halftime, handing out T-shirts and tote bags and answering questions about Patch.

Previewing Brookfield Central

Brookfield Central (15-5, 9-3 GMC) was one of the state's hottest teams through the first two months of the season, but a sudden three-game losing streak knocked the Lancers out of the league lead.

Central averaged more than 73 points per game during an eight-game winning streak, but was held to 43, 55 and 59, respectively, in the defeats. Sophomore Riley LaChance (16.3 ppg) and senior Seth Mortag (16.2 ppg) share the bulk of the scoring load, according to WisSports.net, but five other players average between 5 and 8 points per game.

The Lancers trail West Allis Central by one game in the league standings.

Previewing Tosa East

The Red Raiders (13-7, 8-4 GMC) also got off to a hot start this season, winning 10 of their first 11 games with the only loss to top-ranked and unbeaten Germantown.

But they've lost four of their last five with a leakier defense. Tosa East allowed at least 60 points only once in those first 10 victories, but that many in all four of the recent defeats. The opponents have been tough during that stretch β€” state-ranked Racine Park and Waunaukee, and the always-dangerous JP Tokoto and Menomonee Falls.

Scoring is widely shared, with seven players averaging between 5.2 points and 11 points per game, according to WisSports.net. Anthony Carroll leads the way.
