It was a night of mixed emotions Thursday as parents, teachers, staff and students gathered to remember and say goodbye to , a school they called "a home away from home." Memorabilia and artwork were displayed throughout the halls and in the school's cozy library.

The celebration ceremony opened with 4th and 5th graders singing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da" from the Former and current teachers, principals and students expressed their fond memories of teaching and attending Hillside. A Powerpoint presentation displayed pictures from when the school first opened in 1969 to the current year.

The ceremony ended with teachers taking the stage and singing a song they wrote last year; they received a standing ovation from the crowd.
