Summerfest: Central Jazz Band Plays Today on Potawatomi Stage

After winning the Bob Kames Jazz Festival in April, the Brookfield Central Jazz Band gets to perform at Summerfest at 2:30 p.m. today.

Maybe we should call it Brookfield high school day at Summerfest today.

Not only is Nora Collins, a soon-to-be East High senior and successful country singer-songwriter, when the gates open at noon, but Brookfield Central's Jazz Ensemble also takes the Potawatomi Stage at 2:30 p.m.

Directed by Jason Gillette, the jazz ensemble swept two first place awards at the 6th annual Bob Kames Jazz Festival at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in April. The event, featuring 15 southeastern Wisconsin jazz bands, awarded scholarships to these Central students: Miles Plant, Jacob Reiderer, Kenny Reichert and Jack Peterson.

In addition to a trophy and more than $4,000 in scholarship and prize money, the Brookfield Central Jazz Ensemble won the chance to perform at Summerfest opening day.

Get a taste of the band's music and see a clip from the Bob Kames Summerfest performance last year.
