WIAA Regional Track Titles Belong to East and Central

The Spartans captured the boys championship by four points over Kettle Moraine, while the Lancers came out on top in the girls regional.

Defending WIAA boys state champion Brookfield East narrowly repeated as track and field regional champions on Monday, outscoring Kettle Moraine 137-133 in the event at Brookfield East.

Brookfield Central captured the girls championship, with 135 points to Brookfield East’s 122.5.

The Spartan boys were led by Kyle Rohde, who won the long jump (22 feet, 3 inches) and triple jump (44-0.5) and ran on the winning 800 meter relay team. East also won the 1,600-meter relay and the 3,200 meter relay. Brad Johnson captured the 800 and Trenton Daniels the 400.

Carl Hirsch led the Brookfield Central boys, who finished third in the team event, by winning the 1,600-meter run in 4:29.65. He was edged out in the 3,200 by Brad Woodford of Waukesha South by two one-hundredths of a second.

In the girls regional, winners for Central were Debbie Entzminger in the shot put (36 feet, 1 inch) Elizabeth Flatley in the 3,200 (11:25.5), Alyssa Elwing in the 400 (1:01.54). East claimed event victories in the 3,200 relay, the 100 hurdles (Nina Dismukes, 15.76) and the 300 hurdles (Alisha Harper, 46.94).

Both teams participate in the sectional at Waukesha North on Thursday.
