Write-In Candidate Joins Elmbrook Race

Brookfield resident Nancy Kormanik joins the race in which Sandra Schultz is challenging incumbent School Board member Kathryn Wilson.

Brookfield resident Nancy Kormanik on Monday filed as a formal write-in candidate for the Elmbrook School Board race in which Sandra Schultz is challenging incumbent board member Kathryn Wilson.

Kormanik's name will not appear on the April 5 ballot for the at-large seat.

Incumbent Board President Tom Gehl is not contested for re-election. Richard Brunner and Ken Moe are vying for the Area I seat held by Gary Jones, who chose not to run for re-election.

An election forum will be held at 7 p.m. March 21 at the Elmbrook Schools Central Administrative Office, 13780 Hope St.

At a recent School Board meeting, Kormanik told the board it should not add a 4-year-old kindergarten program, because it is not state-mandated and as a choice, should be funded by parents, not taxpayers.
