Bella Turelli's Goal Gives Central Victory in WIAA Soccer Quarters

With no time to think, Bella Turelli could only act.

The Brookfield Central junior found the ball at her feet off a ricochet, and quickly poked it into the net in the 72nd minute to give the Lancers a 1-0 win over Neenah in the quarterfinals of the WIAA girls soccer finals in Milwaukee.

Central (15-5-3) faces either Eau Claire Memorial or No. 1 Cedarburg at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.

"I'm so proud of our girls," said Lancers coach Jason Burdge. "Today we won the 1 v 1 battles, especially on the defensive end."

Keeper Rachel Oleson made five saves.

Turelli's goal was officially unassisted. The ball was played toward her near the top of the 6-yard box, deflected out by a defender and then pinballed back to Turelli's feet. She turned and slotted the ball past Brooke Hiltunen for the score.
