Brook Central's Carl Hirsch Defends State Title

Hirsch goes back-to-back in the 3,200-meter run, and even shaved three minutes off his 2012 WIAA State Finals time.

Brookfield Central's Carl Hirsch had plenty of time to enjoy the scenic bluffs at Veterans Memorial Field in La Crosse during the final lap of the boys 3,200-meter race Friday.

Hirsch turned on the jets after the bell rang for the final lap of the event, and ended up posting a two-mile time of 9:09.72. The closest finisher, Madison La Follette's Chandler Diffee, was just over 8 seconds behind Hirsch's pace.

Last year, Hirsch won the same event by posting a time of 9:12.76.
Here are the results from Friday:

  1. Carl Hirsch - Brookfield Central,  9:09.72
  2. Chandler Diffee - Madison La Follette, 9:17.78
  3. Brad Woodford - Waukesha South, 9:18.13
