Brookfield, Catholic Memorial Hockey Teams Join in New Co-Op

The Stars, comprised of Brookfield East and Central players, will be joined by those from Catholic Memorial, previously part of a co-op with Pius XI.

The Brookfield Stars co-op hockey team has absorbed the team to create a three-school co-op, the schools have announced.

Catholic Memorial’s head coach, Steve Chapin, will coach the new team, according to a press release. A former Brookfield Stars head coach, Matt Shapiro, will be his assistant.

The team will play its games at the but practice in the mornings at . According to the release, the schools were unable to reach agreement with the Ponds on a practice time that would best fit the program.

Brookfield reached the semifinals of the WIAA tournament last year, before falling 6-3 to Wausau West in the semis.

Catholic Memorial had been in a co-op with Pius XI. The team finished 3-19-0 last year, according to WisSports.net, dropping its first game in the WIAA regional.
