Hirsch, Flatley Lead Lancer Runners at State

Brookfield Central boys cross country team finishes 10th at state; the girls finish 14th.

Brookfield Central High junior Carl Hirsch and sophomore Elizabeth Flatley topped the Lancer runners at the WIAA state cross country championships Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids.

The boys' team finished 10th out of the top 20 teams sent to compete at state; the girls' team finished 14th.

Out of 140 runners at Ridges Golf Course, Hirsch was the fifth to cross the finish line, with a time of 15:50.38.

Flatley had the seventh-best time for the girls' field, finishing in 14:34.65.

Rounding out the boys individual finishes were senior Nick Petersson (16:35), senior Gabe Poser (17:05), senior Wesley Vann (17:15), sophomore Kevin Rindfleisch (17:46), freshman Riley Tsang (18:15) and senior Daniel Buck (18:19).

The Lancers girls individual results included sophomore Paulina Agnello (16:07), sophomore Danielle Kulpins (16:10), senior Lauren Glomski (16:21), freshman Megan Hlava (16:26), freshman Kasey Ledvorowski (16:33) and senior Sheila Kilb (16:48).

Brookfield Central's boys and girls got to state after winning their Greater Metro Conference titles and finishing in first place in last week's WIAA Division 1 sectional at Greenfield Park.
