Lancers Place 2nd at WIAA State Golf Meet

Eddie Wajda tied for second individually and Brookfield East also had a top-20 individual.


Led by second-place individual finisher Eddie Wajda, the Brookfield Central golf team was the runner-up in the WIAA Division 1 state boys golf championships.

The Lancers shot 615 over the 36-hole event, behind only champion Cedarburg, which at 598 was just two shots off the lowest total ever for the event.

Wajda, who shot a hole-in-one on Monday during a 3-under round of 69, fired 77 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 146, 2-over par. He tied with PJ Clemins of Cedarburg and Henry Klogland of Stoughton, three shots behind champion RJ Budd of Sauk Prairie.

Other scores for Central were by Eric Schleicher (72-80—152), Noah Olander (78-76—154), Matt Thomsen (86-80—156) and Eric Anderson (83-83—156).

Brookfield East golfer Bryan Kendall, competing as an individual, rallied after an opening 80 with a 73 Tuesday for a 153 total, tied for 20th individually.
