A rematch of the Week 1 of the NFL season is set for the second round of the NFC Playoffs, as the Green Bay Packers visit the San Francisco 49ers.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. CST Saturday and will be broadcast locally on FOX 6.
San Francisco, the No. 2 seed, beat up the Packers in Green Bay to open the season with a 30-22 win. But Colin Kaepernick is now San Francisco’s starting quarterback, having replaced Alex Smith midway through the season. And David Akers, who kicked an NFL record-tying 63-yard field goal in the September game, is at risk of losing his job after slumping. Billy Cundiff practiced with the team last week.
The Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-10 in the first round of the playoffs, taking a 24-3 lead against overmatched quarterback Joe Webb and then cruising home. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was his usual masterful self, and running back DuJuan Harris proved a threat both running and receiving.
Defensively, the Packers welcomed back Charles Woodson but he wasn’t needed as Webb was unable to pass with any accuracy.
