Be A Hero, Get a Summerfest or State Fair Ticket

Another chance to save a life and save the expense of an admission ticket to two of Wisconsin's hottest festivals - Summerfest and State Fair - comes your way on June 26.

If you haven't gotten around to it yet, the BloodCenter of Wisconsin will be giving potential donors another opportunity to get a free Summerfest or State Fair ticket on Tuesday, June 26.

The BloodCenter will hold its 11th annual 'Declaration for Donations' blood drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at the State Fair Park Products Pavilion, 640 S. 84th St., West Allis.

As a special “thank you” for their life-saving gift, all attempting donors will receive either a ticket to the Wisconsin State Fair or a ticket to Summerfest. Donors will also be treated to some great food including brats, burgers, baked beans and roasted corn.

Summertime blood need

Blood donation decreases during busy summer months as donors’ attention turns to enjoying the many Wisconsin festivals and family events. The need for blood becomes even more critical around the Fourth of July weekend due to travel and holiday celebrations.

BloodCenter is hoping to see more than 700 donors. To schedule an appointment, donors can visit www.bcw.edu/declarations or call 1-877-BE-A-HERO (1-877-232-4376). Free parking and childcare will be available. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

Anyone 17 or older (16-year-olds can donate with parental consent) who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. The entire process takes about an hour and all blood types are needed. Donors should bring a photo ID with birth date.
