Beaches, Pool Won't Open Until After Monday's Hot Temps

Unfortunately, the beaches like Fox Brook in Brookfield — and the Wirth Park pool — won't be open for the steamy weather Monday. Read the details on when the local watering holes will open.

With temperatures forecast to hit 90 Monday for the second day in Brookfield, it would be nice to hit the local beach or pool on a holiday day off from school and work.

No such luck.

Waukesha County's beaches, including , 2925 N. Barker Rd. in Brookfield, open Saturday, June 2. Brookfield's , 2585 N. Pilgrim Rd., also opens June 2.

Want to be first in line? Fox Brook opens at 11 a.m. and Wirth Pool at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Wirth Aquatic Center

Located in the complex, the aquatic center is open from June 2 through Aug. 19. (It will be closed Sunday July 15 for an Elmbrook Swim Club Swim Meet.)

On weekdays, the zero depth pool is open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the full aquatic center is open from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. From Aug. 13 to 17 only, the full facility is open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, the full facility is open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wirth Aquatic Center has a 50-meter pool with 1- and 3-meter diving boards, and a zero depth pool for younger children. There is a flume slide, geysers, spray feature, as well as a playground with sand play area and sunbathing deck. Men's and women's locker rooms and a concession stand also are available. 

Daily admission for City of Brookfield residents is $4 for adults, $3 for children ages 3 to 17 and seniors and free for children ages 2 and younger. Admission rates for non-residents are slightly higher.

Admission to just the morning zero-depth pool is $2.75 for adults, $2.25 for children ages 3 to 17 and seniors and free for children 2 and younger.

Season passes cost $40 for seniors and youth, $55 for adults and $125 for families.

Fox Brook Park / Beach

Fox Brook has the largest lake of the six — 25 acres — with a beach house, diving dock and concession stand. Pedal boat rentals are available for $8 per hour. A two-week swimming lesson session runs from July 23 to Aug. 3.

Waukesha County's summer 2012 beach hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, with lifeguards on duty daily. County Park entrance fees are $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends and holidays.

Annual park entrance stickers cost $27 for county residents, $38 for non-county residents and $14 for senior citizens. 

The six county beaches are:

  • Menomonee Park, W220 N7884 Townline Road, Menomonee Falls
  • Minooka Park, 1927 E. Sunset Drive, Waukesha
  • Muskego Park, S83W20370 Janesville Road, Muskego      
  • Mukwonago Park, County Highway LO, Mukwonago
  • Naga-Waukee Park, 651 State Highway 83, Hartland

The county's web site lists these beach rules: 

  • Follow lifeguards' instructions.
  • No food or drink permitted on sand beach.
  • No beer, liquor, or wine permitted in beach area.
  • No floatation devices, facemasks, or diving equipment permitted. 
  • No animals allowed.
  • Proper swimming attire required - long pants not acceptable.
  • An adult must supervise children 5 years old or younger.
  • No running dives.
