Sprinkling Ban Lifted in Town of Brookfield, City's Ban Continues

Residents in the Town of Brookfield may resume watering their lawns — but only between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. and on an even/odd property address schedule.

After lifting its ban, the Town of Brookfield also Friday lifted its lawn watering / sprinkling ban.

Both bans remain in effect in the adjacent City of Brookfield.

As of Friday, Town of Brookfield residents may resume outdoor watering but must follow the town's sprinkling ordinance 10.07 that requires:

  • Watering only occur in the evening and overnight, from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.; daytime watering is prohibited.
  • Odd-numbered property addresses can sprinkle only on odd-numbered days of the month, from 6 p.m. on the odd day through 8 a.m. the following day.
  • Even-numbered property addresses can sprinkle only on even-numbered days of the month, from 6 p.m. on the even day through 8 a.m. the following day.
  • Property owners with newly installed lawns may obtain a temporary permit allowing daily watering from the town Sanitary District.

Town Chairman Keith Henderson said in a press release the sprinkling ban was being lifted due to recent rains and the "return of normal temperatures."

"We urge the cooperation of all residents and property owners," Henderson said.
