In Honor of Nurse’s Week, Herzing University Launches New “Dare to Care” Scholarship, Adding $100,000 in Nursing Scholarships for 2013

Herzing University has launched a new "Dare to Care" scholarship, earmarking $100,000 for students enrolling in LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner programs at its campuses or Herzing University Online.

Today, in honor of National Nurses Week, Herzing University salutes this profession of caring with its new “Dare to Care” scholarship program. In addition to current scholarships, Herzing is earmarking another $100,000 for students who enroll, or are already enrolled in, one of its many nursing programs that enable students to become Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners. The new scholarship is available to students enrolling in Herzing University’s campuses in Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Birmingham, Alabama; Brookfield, Kenosha or Madison, Wisconsin; or Herzing University Online.

“We are very excited to offer our new ‘Dare to Care’ Scholarship to nursing students in order to support the dedicated individuals who put the care of others above themselves,” said Renée Herzing, president of Herzing University. “Every time I attend a pinning ceremony, I am deeply touched by the powerful desire to help others that these new nursing graduates possess. During Nurses Week, we are reminded of the critically important role of nurses in our society, as the largest healthcare occupation in the country, and we are very proud of our role in educating the nurses of tomorrow.”

Herzing University offers an array of scholarships to reward academic achievement and assist individuals with financial need, and they are awarded to both recent high school graduates and adult learners across all of the university’s academic programs. Nursing students represent more than 15 percent of the Herzing University student population. Since 2011, Herzing has awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships to nursing students. Over $250,000 has been awarded to date in 2013, and this amount is expected to exceed $500,000 by year’s end.
