Farmers Market Ends Saturday with Carved Pumpkin Sale for Pantry

The Sigler family will be carving donated pumpkins at the final day of the Brookfield Farmers Market and giving the sales proceeds to the Waukesha Food Pantry.

It started as family fun, carving elaborate pumpkins for Halloween.

But every year more friends, relatives and neighbors would join in, until the party swelled to some 50 people carving gourds. Lynn Sigler and her family decided to add charity to the event, asking carvers to bring cash and food offerings for the .

On Saturday — the final day of the Brookfield Farmers Market — the Sigler family will carving donated pumpkins from market vendors and selling them to raise money for the food pantry, said Bobbi Harvey, market manager.

"Stop by and see the carvers and try some pumpkin seeds or take home a carved pumpkin for a donation to the Waukesha Food Pantry," Lynn Sigler said.

The closes Saturday after operating every weekend since May in the Civic Plaza next to 2000 N. Calhoun Rd. About 65 vendors participate, including sellers of baked goods, meats, cheese, fruits and vegetables, honey and maple syrup, soap and garden art.
