Help with River Cleanup Saturday in Brookfield

Bring the whole family and Milwaukee Riverkeepers will provide garbage bags and T-shirts at the more than 50 sites participating in the 2012 Spring River Cleanup.

Looking for a great educational, charitable event the whole family can do together?

From 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday April 21, volunteers are needed to clean up the Underwood Creek area near Brookfield's Krueger and Harvey Park, southeast of Bluemound Road and Columbia Boulevard north of I-94.

It's one of 50 river cleanup sites around southeastern Wisconsin participating in the Milwaukee Riverkeepers' 17th annual Spring River Cleanup. A list and map of all sites is at milwaukeeriverkeeper.org.

Organizers will hand out garbage bags and T-shirts. All they need are volunteers to walk the creek bed and collect garbage, and maybe even share some of the most unique or bizarre trash items found.
