Mr. Gold, Please accept this as an open apology for your horrible experience. If there is one thing we are focused on at Saloon on Calhoun with Bacon, its trying to make sure every patron has a GREAT experience!
We are a bar, and smokers can only smoke outside by law. The ashtrays (7 of them) are cleaned out every morning, and the "butt buffet" is swept daily also. I am sorry that you found it to still be disgusting, but it is a challange we try to stay on top of.
Our tables are all new as of June, but some of them came with "tackiness" on the finish coat of polyurethane. We were told it would have to "wear off" before they could be re-finished. The tables were not sticky from being dirty, they were tacky from an uncured finish. We do apologize for the tackiness as we were not happy about it either. :(
As to the laziness of the staff, or the uselessness of the hostess, again I apologize that is what you experienced. To be honest, we are trying to become Brookfield's "Cheers" and I am VERY proud of our staff. We have some of the friendless, caring, genuine, and knowledgeable people you will ever find in the business. That includes our kitchen staff which strives to present food that exceeds expectations. Our wings are "whole" because many people love them that way, but we also offer boneless wings that can be eaten with a fork. Our wing sauces are the best around!
I thank you for your review so I can address these things and make improvements.
Baconerely,
Dave -owner

I was here recently for the Fish Fry. In one word AMAZING! Cheers to Saloon on Calhoun for bringing Brookfield back on the map for Fish Frys. I was told this is one of the many changes to the menu. So excited to see what is to come. Also, went during Happy Hour and was surprised to have as much free bacon as I wanted. My family was happy to have that little snack before our meal. as well The staff was very friendly and seemed to know alot about the food and their draft beers. Will definitely go back!

This restaurant was so disgusting - and I read the reviews before I went...I wish someone had saved me the time, gas, and $30. Here's why:
1) The entrance to the restaurant is a little tricky to find and there was garbage and cigarette butts all over the outside seating area. There were staff sitting outside -- but no one seemed to think it was important to sweep up the filth. So gross. 2) The owners could save money by eliminating the hostess. When we walked in, she frowned and said, "Oh sit wherever you like". The menus are already at the tables. So, I'm not sure why they waste revenue on a hostess position. 3) The top of our table was sticky! My arms stuck to it! So gross. 4) The food: We ordered the bacon/broccoli appetizers. The centers were still frozen when they came to our table. 5) The chicken wings: The wings sauces are unique, but the fact that the cook doesn't cut the chicken wings (doesn't separate the drummette from the wingette (or "flat") and discard the tip - made them very hard to eat. I don't mind eating with my hands, but when the wings are covered in sauce and I have to twist them apart at my table, and add the fact that they were not cooked enough - made my experience horrible.
6) STAFF: there appeared to be a lot of staff - but no one working! I was shocked by how lazy the staff was sitting around outside adding to the cigarette butt buffet. Disgusting. Save your money and time - don't eat here!
