Fox Brook Park

A former quarry site, Fox Brook Park now is a Waukesha County park with a 22-acre quarry lake with beach and 223More acres of recreational and open space. There are three observation decks to enjoy the vistas.

Located on Barker Road on the northwest side of Brookfield, Fox Brook has trails for walkers, joggers, bicyclists and rollerbladers. The lake offers fishing for Northern, Bass, Bluegill, Perch and Crappies (a state fishing license is required). Other water activities include scuba diving, pedal boat rentals and swimming with lifeguards on duty. 

There are 400 acres of sandy beach with volleyball nets, a beach house with vending machines, restrooms, showers and a concession stand from June to August. The picnic area can be reserved for events and includes restrooms and kitchen facilities. 

From September to mid-May, the Fox Brook Lodge can be rented for events as large as 100 people with kitchen and seating facilities.

 

Elmbrook Church

With about 7,000 adults and youth attending weekend services, Elmbrook Church is a non-denominational mega-churchMore based in the Town of Brookfield. In Outreach Magazine's 2010 list of the nation's largest and fastest-growing churches, it listed Elmbrook as the only mega-church in Wisconsin and the 73rd largest nationwide.

Although its Barker Road facility was its first and largest, Elmbrook Church has created a network of about a dozen other congregations in Southeastern Wisconsin. Elmbrook has active ministry and missionary programs, local and global. Its weekly sermons air at 8am Sundays on WISN-AM (1130) radio. Child care is available during worship services.

Mitchell Park
W Capitol Dr & N Barker Rd, Brookfield, WI 53045

One of the city's four large community parks used by residents citywide, Mitchell Park is named after the city'sMore second mayor, William Mitchell Jr.

Spanning 433 acres in the city's northwest with access off Capitol Drive and River Road, Mitchell Park is home to the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. 

About 90 acres are developable for park purposes, with the rest wetlands, woodland and water bodies along the Fox River. Amenities include a major trailhead to the city's Greenway Trail System, a youth baseball complex with four diamonds, park and a concessions/restroom building used by the Elmbrook Little League, a large pavilion with restrooms for group picnics and community events,  play equipment, a pet exercise area, an archery target area, a canoe access with piers, bike and nature trails and a winter sledding hill.
