Blast Fitness, Other Tenants Will be Out, But is Aurora Building in its Place?

According to the building's biggest tenant, Blast Fitness, Aurora Health Care has purchased the building at Calhoun and Bluemound and plans to raze it. An Aurora spokesman, however, said that's not quite true.

Blast Fitness, 16895 W. Blue Mound Road, will close Feb. 28 and is telling members the entire building has been sold to Aurora Health Care, who will tear it down in favor of a new facility. But Aurora spokesman Adam Beeson responded Friday afternoon to an email query from Patch by saying, "We are not purchasing this facility. We are in negotiations to possibly lease the facility, but as of today we have not finalized a deal." A message left with Brookfield Economic Development Director Dan Ertl was not been returned Friday. A “Q&A” sheet prepared for Blast Fitness members says all the tenants in the building — including Salon West and Rhoda/Smith and Associates — are having their leases terminated so the building can be demolished. It's a shame this great location for a gym is being removed for some "medical building". Don't we have enough "Aurora" medical buildings on National Ave that are UNDER STAFFED!??? I Have been going to this gym since 1987. It was Vic Tanny then shortly changed to Bally's. The pool and hot tub was a great relaxation after a hard workout.
