How about we make a trade, the Brewers and Bucks for say, the New York Mets. Not a powerhouse, but far better than what we have. Heck, we would even throw in a six pack of Miller and a pack of brats to sweeten the deal.   more ›

Play Ball: Lancers Break Ground on New Baseball Stadium

Brookfield Central High School should have a new state-of-the-art baseball field in time for play next spring, giving them their first home field on campus versus playing home games at Brookfield East or McCoy Field.

This time next year, baseball should be in full swing on a new state-of-the-art stadium, giving the Lancers baseball their first home field on campus. Leaders of Central 4Ward, a community fundraising group, held a ceremonial groundbreaking Thursday on the grass field between Brookfield Central High School and the football/track stadium. "When I came here 10 years ago, it was always a dream of mine to build our own field," Head Boys Baseball Coach Jeff Bigler said. "Now here it is, a reality." The athletes — who compete next week in the GMC tournament — will be able to play home games in their backyard rather than at cross-rival Brookfield East or McCoy Field. "I know our student athletes will take great pride in walking out the school …

Groundbreaking Thursday for New Lancers Baseball Stadium

Central 4Ward has raised $266,655 to get a state-of-the-art baseball stadium built at Brookfield Central High School in time for the spring 2013 baseball season. The public is invited to a groundbreaking Thursday.

With a boost by a major gift from an anonymous donor, Brookfield Central will break ground Thursday on a new state-of-the-art baseball stadium that will be ready for use next spring. A public groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the baseball stadium site just south of the football / track stadium behind Brookfield Central, 16900 W. Gebhardt Rd. In just a few months, Central 4Ward — a new volunteer fundraising group of parents and other backers — has raised $266,655 and deposited it in Elmbrook School District accounts. The School Board voted 6-1 in March to fund one-third of the baseball stadium project, if Central 4Ward raised the other two-thirds before any construction began.  It was a major victory for Central, …

Seeing as how Patch is supposed to be a local news reporting entity, couldn't we use Jason Jaramillo or Marcus Hanel, the Brewers Bullpen Catcher, both from Racine County? How about a Brewer Player. Someone other then a freaking Yankee.......   more ›
