War of 'words' between students turns into after-school fisticuffs and then into a one-sided contest leaving younger boy injured and three older boys facing criminal charges.
Four Brookfield East High School boys were arrested after an ongoing disagreement turned into an after-school fight – and the fight turned into a three-on-one pummeling of a 15-year-old by older boys. Those three were taken into custody, and police sought criminal charges of substantial battery for the injuries they inflicted. But the seeming victim was also cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly playing some part in instigating the fight. A 73-year-old Brookfield man is accused of assaulting a Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver after he became upset the bus was parked on Greenfield Avenue. Hubert G. Smith was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one felony count of battery to a public transit operator and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 21 months in prison and $11,000 in fines. A Brookfield man is facing nearly four years in prison after he allegedly hit another man in the face with a pool cue at Saloon on Calhoun. Kyle J. Filbrandt, 22, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of substantial battery and one count of disorderly conduct. Police were investigating a man's report that he was physically attacked by two men who grabbed his wallet in Mitchell Park. According to police reports: A 26-year-old man called police about 12:10 a.m. Friday to say he had just been beaten up by two men who fled on foot. The man said he had been walking south on Mitchell Park Drive, south of Capitol Drive when he passed two men walking north. He said the men "jumped him," with one striking him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Someone kicked him twice and grabbed his wallet from his rear pocket.
