With summer here, the water is beckoning. Whether you enjoy lakeside beaches or waterslides, there are plenty of options in the area. Patch has pulled together information on some of our favorites. Idle Isle Park, Muskego This 7-acre island park offers fishing, a boat launch and parking, swimming and a picnic and playground area. The Pavilion will feature Island Ice Cream beginning June 22, and on Wednesday evenings the Water Bugs Show Ski Team performs at 6:30 p.m. The park is open from dawn until dusk seven days a week. It may hit the 80s on Memorial Day but you'll have to wait until Saturday to get a tan or splash in the water at Waukesha County's six public beaches. The beaches, including Fox Brook Park on Barker Road in Brookfield, open for the summer on Sat. June 4. Fox Brook has the largest lake of the six — 25 acres — with a beach house, diving dock, concession stand and pedal boat rentals. Waukesha County beach hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, with lifeguards on duty daily. County Park entrance fees are $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends and holidays. Annual park entrance stickers cost $27 for county residents, $38 for non-county residents and $14 for senior citizens. If they have one it will be because the police calls that originate from that location warrant it. That area was a great place for families on the weekend 25 years ago...now it is a who's who of gang-banger and disorderly conduct arrests (not my opinion - actual arrests made and tickets written). Another "fun" summer at Bradford at night...not.   more ›

The Greendale High pool has open swim Mon thru Fri 2:35pm to 4:35 pm. Would be nice if the GREENDALE Patch had this listed in the article.   more ›
