Two Fires Aided by Sprinklers, Security Systems

Brookfield fire fighters responded to alarms at Central Bark and Best Western Midway.

A full evacuation of the Best Western Plus Midway Hotel & Suites was avoided Friday after a sprinkler system helped put out a kitchen fire. Brookfield firefighters also were able to limit the loss for a fire at Central Bark Doggy Day Care on Saturday to a ceiling fan, Fire Chief Charlie Myers said. "Both of these incident are examples of the value of sprinklers system, fire detection systems and the secure lock boxes," Myers wrote in an email. "Damage was reduced and the businesses operations continued."
