Want to find a blood drive in Brookfield? There are several blood drives being held soon.
Dixon Elementary School has provided to blood to help save 150 lives during its blood drives the past few years, according to third grade teacher Michael Fox. Jennifer Wilkinson, a Dixon parent and a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital, was donating blood Thursday afternoon. Wilkinson’s donated a variety of ways – including direct donation for her mother – and she finds it convenient to donate at Dixon after school. “They are always in need of blood for transfusing patients,” Wilkinson said. “It just gives you a good feeling to give something that is easy to give.”

BloodCenter of Wisconsin is launching a special Run Your Route blood donation challenge featuring Green Bay fullback John Kuhn. Kuhn was inspired to be a blood donor himself because of a serious motorcycle accident which involved his father in 1981. His dad, also named John, received several units of blood following the accident. “I’m grateful for the generosity of the blood donors who helped my father – and now I hope to encourage others to save lives,” said Kuhn in a statement. The challenge, which will run from Nov. 19 to Jan. 6, 2013, encourages donors to “run their route” to their local BloodCenter of Wisconsin donor center to donate blood. The donor center with the best turnout at the end of the challenge will win a post-season party…

In an effort to boost slumping summer blood donations, BloodCenter of Wisconsin is offering Wisconsin State Fair tickets to blood donors through August 11. Donors will receive a free state fair ticket by giving blood at one of BloodCenter’s local donor centers: Donors are asked to mention “summer” when making their appointment by calling 1-877-BE-A-HERO or (414) 937-6199, or by entering “summer” into the comment box on the confirmation page during online registration. BloodCenter’s "Give Blood, Go Free" promotion is an effort to increase blood donations during busy summer months when donations dip because of summer travel and fewer school and community drives. BloodCenter must see at least 800 donors each day in order to meet the needs …

Overwhelming turnout at State Fair blood drive creates a happy problem for BloodCenter of Wisconsin, which will offer three additional chances to donate and in return receive a free ticket to Summerfest or State Fair.
It was hard to say if it was the lure of a free Summerfest or State Fair ticket, or the generosity of the community in responding to a nationwide summer blood shortage, but the wait was long at the BloodCenter of Wisconsin's open drive at State Fair Park on Tuesday. Walking into the Agricultural Products Pavilion where the event was being held at around 3 p.m., donors without appointments were told that the overall time it would take for their appointment would be two hours because of the number of people who had come in to give blood. To accommodate the demand, the option for three additional drives was given, and each will offer free tickets for Summerfest or the Wisconsin State Fair. The BloodCenter is urging interested donors to call …

The BloodCenter of Wisconsin is thanking donors in June by handing out free Summerfest tickets in exchange for blood at one of the nine area locations.
Rock out to your favorite Summerfest performances for free this year when you give blood at an area BloodCenter of Wisconsin donation center. The campaign is called “Give Blood, Go Free,” and it’s an effort to boost blood donations during the slow summer months. BloodCenter says between summer vacations and the decrease in school and community drives, it could use the extra donors. “Blood donations through BloodCenter of Wisconsin are a priceless gift that can help save the lives of children and adults who are seriously injured, undergoing surgery or being treated for cancer and other illnesses,” the organization said in a memo. “As a small ‘thank you’ to those generous donors, BloodCenter is offering a free ticket to Summerfest, which can…
