Gov. Scott Walker Declares Bluemound Road Corridor 'Open for Business'

A $14.1 million state construction project along Bluemound Road from Moorland to Barker roads is substantially complete, officials said Wednesday as they promoted recent economic growth in the corridor.

A $14.1 million reconstruction of Bluemound Road from Moorland to Barker roads is substantially complete, paving the way for greater economic growth, including the relocation of Willis insurance to an office park on that key corridor, officials said Wednesday. Gov. Scott Walker and Brookfield Mayor Steve Ponto celebrated the "grand reopening" of the three-mile stretch that handles about 50,000 cars daily. Brookfield Repeat Drunken Driver Sped 70MPH on Bluemound

A Brookfield man told police he had three beers before getting behind the wheel, charges allege.

A three-time convicted drunken driver was intoxiciated when he sped 70 mph on Bluemound Road early Saturday in Elm Grove, charges allege. David W. Cote, 30, of Brookfield, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with fourth offense operating while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle after revocation of license. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and $25,000 in fines. Accoridng to the criminal complaint: At 1:37 a.m. Saturday, a Brookfield police officer spotted Cote driving an SUV eastbound on Bluemound Road, traveling at 70 miles per hour in a 45-mph speed zone.
