Lancers get a 60-50 win in Greater Metro Conference play.
Seth Mortag scored all of his 15 points in the second half as Brookfield Central held off Wauwatosa East 60-50 in high school boys basketball on Friday. Riley LaChance of Central led all scorers with 21. Ben Carpenter led East with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Diamonte McKinley added 13. Brookfield Central also won the junior varsity game, 47-40. Zach Tichelaar scored 17 points and Brad Newman 16 for the Lancers. East made a spirited comeback in the fourth quarter but came up short. Jalen Fischer scored 11 points and Christian Tolbert added 10.

Indians need overtime for 57-53 victory.
Brookfield East was accurate from 3-point range and the free throw line, but still was not able to fend off Menomonee Falls in Greater Metro Conference boys basketball this week. MidwestBallers.com created an outstanding highlight video from the contest, won 57-53 by Falls. According to stats at WisSports.net, the Spartans (7-8, 4-4 GMC) netted six 3-pointers and 15 of 17 free throws. Mike Novak led all scorers with 23 points, Brian Smith had 13 and Ryan McBride 12. JP Tokoto scored 20 points for the Indians (6-7, 3-5 GMC). Jason Precia added 13 and James Ulicki 10. Falls hosts Brookfield Central on Friday night; the Lancers are in first place in the GMC at 8-0. The Spartans are at Tosa East, which is tied for second in the league at 6-2.

The Brookfield Central Lancers defeat the Hamilton Chargers 74-63
Brookfield Central (12-2, 7-0 Greater Metro Conference) remained atop the league standings Friday with a 74-63 boys basketball victory over Hamilton (7-7, 3-4 GMC). Seth Mortag and Riley LaChance scored 19 points each for the Lancers. Brady Ellingson topped the Chargers with 20. Central hosts West Allis Hale on Tuesday. The Chargers are at Marquette on Tuesday.

Boys basketball teams hit the courts to honor a beloved player and a respected coach on Thursday and Friday
If you're looking for some exciting boys basketball action this weekend, Brookfield Central and Brookfield East both take to the courts for their annual holiday tournaments. The Luke Homan Memorial Holiday Tournament honors the popular former Lancers sharp-shooting guard who died a tragic death a few years ago. This tournament and a summer golf outing raise funds for a memorial foundation which provides scholarships to Brookfield Central seniors, the Sky Ranch for Boys, Special Olympics and the Variety Club. Action tips off at 6 p.m. Thursday night as the Hartford Orioles play Milwaukee Bay View. The Lancers take the floor at 7:30 p.m. against the Nicolet Knights. Eighth-ranked Lancers can't keep pace with No. 1 Warhawks in opening game, 73-58.
Both Germantown and Brookfield Central were ranked in the preseason state coaches poll, but only the Warhawks were No. 1. They played like it Tuesday in defeating the eighth-ranked Lancers 73-58 in the season-opening game for both teams. Germantown led 10-2 and the Lancers got no closer than six at any point after that. Their three-point shooting kept the margin reasonable in the first half; senior Jack Sandstrom knocked down four in the first half and Jason Meichtry and Seth Mortag each made two.
