Awesome Axes: See Cream City Music's Coolest Guitar Treasures

This store is the place to go for rare and vintage guitars in the Milwaukee area, maybe in the Midwest. And as these six-string beauties become ever more hard to find, it's a treat just to see them.

"Buy, sell, trade..." A person not in the know could be excused for passing by Cream City Music, 12505 Blue Mound Road, and thinking it's "just a second-hand shop." It's in a sort of non-descript building with signs that seem to say, "Pawn it here." But step inside and, if you're the least bit knowledgeable about guitars, you'll feel like Charlie at Willy Wonka's Six-String Chocolate Factory. According to Ben Derickson, one of the expert guitar-slingers at Cream City, the large shop has as good a selection of new, used and, especially, vintage instruments as any place in the Midwest. The Week Ahead: Fire Station Block Plan Set for Public Hearing

Meeting Tuesday will take input on limited retail center proposal for former Fire Station No. 3; School Board continues reworking employee policies in light of state law changes.

The Brookfield Plan Commission convenes Monday for its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. On the agenda, among other things, is a request from Neumann Companies Inc. to schedule a public hearing on combining parcels in Kinsey's Garvendale, Brookfield oldest subdivision, to allow for a private school. Also on the docket is a request for an up-to 150-foot wireless communications tower and associated building at 19295 W. North Ave. and an amendment to the building and zoning code to allow residential greenhouses. Tuesday night will be a busy one at City Hall, beginning with a public hearing starting at 6:30 p.m. in the East Activity Room on rezoning the former Fire Station No. 3 city block at at the northeast …

Super Bowl Fun in Brookfield: Bars, Recipes, Food

The Pack isn't in the Super Bowl but you can still have fun and give Brookfield businesses some love on the big day.

I know. The BIG game today doesn't feel so big without the Packers and MVP Aaron Rodgers. But... you don't want to miss the commercials.
