Brookfield Farmers Market Accepting FoodShare as Payment

The Brookfield Farmers Market starts this weekend with a new payment option.

The Brookfield Farmers Market will start accepting FoodShare as a payment method this year, reported BrookfieldNow. A number of markets received a grant from the state to purchase a wireless device that accepts Foodshare payments. The market runs from every Saturday starting May 4 through October 26 from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Over 50 vendors will be selling fresh produce, bakery, flowers and herbs, clothing, jewelry, cleaning products, art, cosmetics and more. Here is a complete list of the vendors.

Final Brookfield Farmers Market Features Carved Pumpkins

Lynn Sigler's family will be carving pumpkins for sale, with all profits going to the Waukesha Food Pantry. Saturday is the final Market & More with extra vendors (including Brookfield Patch). Oct. 27 is this season's last market.

The 22nd run of the Brookfield Farmers Market is drawing to a close — but not before one last Market & More extra vendor day featuring holiday gifts and freshly carved pumpkins for sale. Saturday is the final day for extra non-produce vendors — including Brookfield Patch — who will line up around the Civic Plaza next to City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road. The following Saturday — Oct. 27 — will be the last farmers market of the season and the last chance to get that fresh fall fruits, vegetables and specialty meats and items. Lynn Sigler and her family will be back to carve pumpkins for sale, with all proceeds going to the Waukesha Food Pantry. Her family has been doing the Halloween carvings for more than five years. PHOTOS: Vendors Return to Brookfield Farmers Market

Saturday was the first 2012 date for Market and More, held on the third Saturday of each month, when vendors of a wide variety of products join the farmers selling fresh produce and plants.

Every third Saturday during the Brookfield Farmers Market, a diverse group of vendors join the farmers. Brookfield Patch was one of those vendors Saturday, the first of the so-called Market and More days. (see the vendors) The market is held in the city's Civic Plaza and parking lot next to City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Rd. Patch handed out free tote bags to those who signed up for our daily email newsletter, which contains links to the top Brookfield headlines, blogs and local events from our calendar. Brookfield Farmers Market Opens Saturday with New Vendors

Add Italian sausage and organic vegetables to the mix of favorite standbys at the Brookfield Farmers' Market that opens at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. On the third Saturdays of the month, arts, craft and other groups join.

Sixty vendors have signed onto the 22nd season of the Brookfield Farmers’ Market that kicks off Saturday, a slight increase over last year's membership. The open air market runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through October 27th in the parking lot between the Civic Plaza and City Hall, 2000 N. Calhoun Road.  Although the increase is small, market manager Bobbi Harvey is excited about some of the new vendors coming to the market this year. She thinks they will add even more products to the already popular market. "We have someone bringing Italian sausage this year," she said. "We also have some organic …

Farmers Market Ends Saturday with Carved Pumpkin Sale for Pantry

The Sigler family will be carving donated pumpkins at the final day of the Brookfield Farmers Market and giving the sales proceeds to the Waukesha Food Pantry.

It started as family fun, carving elaborate pumpkins for Halloween. But every year more friends, relatives and neighbors would join in, until the party swelled to some 50 people carving gourds. Lynn Sigler and her family decided to add charity to the event, asking carvers to bring cash and food offerings for the Waukesha Food Pantry. On Saturday — the final day of the Brookfield Farmers Market — the Sigler family will carving donated pumpkins from market vendors and selling them to raise money for the food pantry, said Bobbi Harvey, market manager. "Stop by and see the carvers and try some pumpkin seeds or take home a carved pumpkin for a donation to the Waukesha Food Pantry," Lynn Sigler said. The popular farmers market closes Saturday …
