Obituary: Lois B. Solberg

Brookfield woman, 83, worked in the Waukesha School District.

Lois B. Solberg, of Brookfield, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 at her home at the age of 83. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on Sept. 2, 1929, the daughter of Merritt and Hattie (Doornink) Jensen.  Lois was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waukesha, where she was a past choir member. She was united in marriage to Robert Solberg on August 11, 1951. Lois was a graduate of UW-Stout receiving her B.S. in Home Economics.  She proudly served the Waukesha School systems for many years as a Teacher’s Aide. Lois was a member of the Waukesha Home makers Club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading books and completing crossword puzzles. Obituary: Natalie Maria Grihalva

Natalie Maria Grihalva of Brookfield was 86 years old, and will be remembered by friends and family on Saturday.

From Church and Chapel Funeral Homes: Natalie Maria Grihalva (Nee Gallegos) found peace Wednesday February 27, 2013.  Beloved wife of 64 years to David. Cherished mother of Magda (Ken), Gustavo and Fred (Mary). Adored grandmother of Anneka, Joseph and Brent. Lovingly survived by her sisters, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Memorial Visitation Saturday, March 9 at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 1875 N Calhoun Road from 11 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Natalie dedicated her life to working and caring for her family who she loved dearly. Her warmth, kindness and wonderful cooking will be greatly missed.

Obituary: Margaret 'Marge' Peterman

Brookfield woman, 92, passed away Tuesday evening.

Margaret “Marge” Peterman of Brookfield, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years.  She was born on Jan. 21, 1921, the daughter of Nikolaus and AnnaMaria (Neuschwanger) Kissler.  Marge was a member of Our Savior Ev. Lutheran Church of Whitefish Bay.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Marge will be deeply missed by her daughters, Juliane (Stephen) Bantz of Glendale and Debra (Dan) Zachariasen of Pewaukee; her three grandchildren, Kyle, Maryn and Loryn;  her sister, Mary (Jim) Booz of Milwaukee.  Marge is preceded by her husband, Kenneth, her parents, and seven brothers and two sisters. Former Waukesha Mayor, 91, Passes Away in Brookfield

Joe LaPorte served as Waukesha Mayor from 1978-82.

Joseph “Joe” Charles LaPorte, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Lighthouse of Brookfield. Joe was born on Feb. 25, 1921, in Milwaukee, the son of Sicilian immigrants. His father, Filippo arrived in Milwaukee in 1904 and sent for his wife, Vincenza (Serni), a year later. The couple had nine children together, Joseph being the third youngest. Joe married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart, the late Marion Gengl, on December 27, 1941. Joe started his career at International Harvestor as an Industrial Engineer. Joe enlisted and served in the 543rd Ordinance Heavy Maintenance Co. as a Technician 4th Class (Sergeant). As a Tech. Obituary: Connie M. Powers

Town of Brookfield woman dies at age 85.

Connie M. Powers, of the Town of Brookfield, went home to the Lord and her beloved husband on January 10, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born on Oct. 22, 1927, in Mazomaine, WI, the daughter of Jake and Gwen (nee Rogers) Baumgartner.  On June 9, 1947, she married Ivan Powers, in Dubuque, IA, he preceded her in death on August 23, 1986.  She was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church for 43 years and was very involved in United Methodist Women and served in various positions on the board.  She also served on Salem’s Church Council, went to weekly bible study and participated in various volunteer activities, such as, Christmas caroling to shut ins, the Crop Walk and Food Pantry.  She had also been a girl scout co-leader of her …
