The popular frozen yogurt business opened today in Ruby Isle, bringing with it a loyal following from its Wauwatosa location.
When Yo Mama! opened its doors to the public for the first time in Brookfield at 11 a.m. Thursday, a group of kids had already been waiting outside for 30 minutes. Thanks to their 10-month-old Wauwatosa location, the frozen yogurt store comes to Brookfield with a loyal fan base that kept the place busy Thursday and bodes well for the store's future in the Ruby Isle Shopping Center at 2205 N. Calhoun Rd. "We're obsessed," Andie Catterson, who went to Yo Mama! Thursday with a group of friends, said. "Yo Mama's is my safe haven of yummy goodness!" reads a crayon-drawn sign on the wall. Yo Mama! owner Becky Berger, who lives in Brookfield with her family, said she originally wanted to start her business in Brookfield, but could not find an …

The city Plan Commission endorsed Yo Mama!'s plans to convert a drive-thru lane into an outdoor seating area for about 30 patrons.
Just in time for its planned April 5 opening, Yo Mama! frozen yogurt & goodies got the green light last night to build an outdoor patio outside its shop at Brookfield's Ruby Isle shopping center. The city Plan Commission Monday night endorsed an amendment to the center's development agreement to allow for Yo Mama! to remodel the existing drive-thru space (formerly from That Coffee Place) into an outdoor seating area. Aldermen will vote on the request at Tuesday's Common Council meeting. Yo Mama!'s original patio plan included a fireplace, but the owners are considering a water feature instead. The patio will have cement block garden walls with built-in benches and seating for approximately 30 people. If the patio is not built, the drive-…

Opened in the former Haute Taco spot, Jake's Burger features specialty burgers, salads, beer and wine. It's run by Chef Jake Replogle who operates Jake's steakhouse in Pewaukee. Menu, wine and cocktails lists attached.
Farewell, tacos and margaritas. Hello, burgers and wine. Jake's Burger held its soft opening Tuesday in the former Haute Taco spot at Sendik's Towne Centre. And now it's up and running, Chef Jake Replogle told Patch. Replogle, who with his wife Karen also operates Jake's steakhouse in Pewaukee, said he decided burgers and American fare were a "better fit" than Mexican at that location. "Diners will consume wine and beer on a nonseasonal daily basis and margaritas are more for celebrating and for those summer months," he said. Nationally burgers continue to grow in popularity, he said, with Americans consuming on average a burger a week. "We have had great success with the burger in Jake's Charred Lounge and thought that this was the time …

Get ready for shovels in the ground. Aldermen Tuesday gave final approval for Trader Joe's to build in a new shopping center under construction in Brookfield — TJ's second location in the Milwaukee area and third in Wisconsin. The Brookfield Common Council unanimously approved a revised development agreement with Ryan Cos. to add construction of Trader Joe's to the Underwood Crossing shopping center being built at 12821 W. Bluemound Rd. Trader Joe's agreed to upgrade its architecture and landscaping on its southern side, which faces a frontage road that will be built and the Target store under construction. The California-based grocery chain — which has a cult-like fan base and employees dressed in hawaiian shirts — is known for its …
