Super Bug or Norovirus Rampant in US, Symptoms Present Within 48 Hours of Exposure

As flu season wanes a new Super Bug from Australia is taking its place in the spotlight.

A new strain of the highly contagious norovirus has reached the U.S. from Australia. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the new norovirus, named GII.4 Sydney because it's believed to have started in Sydney, Australia, is currently the leading cause of norovirus outbreaks in the U.S. In the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report released Jan. 25, the norovirus is described as: the leading cause of epidemic gastroenteritis, including foodborne outbreaks, in the U.S. Hospitalization and mortality associated with norovirus infection occur most frequently among elderly persons, young children, and immunocompromised patients. Hot water with lots of honey and lemon really sooths the throat and makes one feel better. Also at the onset I spray my mouth with Z-cam and take multi cold tab and if taken right away for a couple days, there are times it never gets worse, but if I wait until I am really sick then take meds it takes longer to rid myself of flu or bad colds as well.   more ›

This year's flu season is the worst in five years, and the area and state are feeling it

Influenza cases are on the rise throughout the entire country, and area schools and hospitals in Waukesha County are seeing a huge increase in the illness this year compared to last year. I'm going to have to agree. I don't get a flu shot and I really never get the flu. My husband rarely gets sick and when co-workers were getting hit hard, he got hit hard and brought it home to me. 5 days of fever, basically feeling like you got hit by a steamroller and a lingering cough now into my third week.
