Brookfield East had six players involved; Brookfield Central sent two doubles teams.
Brookfield East senior Bridget Noack (19-10) defeated Samantha Nagin of Madison West (10-11) 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the WIAA Division 1 girls state individual tennis tournament in Madison on Thursday. Noack faces Gina Gambucci (14-8) of West Bend East at 10 a.m. Friday. Keep up with regular updates on results at the WIAA girls tennis website. Also winning Thursday was the doubles team of Erica Engstrand and Jessica Huang (9-9), who beat Hallie Mueller and Mackenzie Cunningham of Eau Claire Memorial (27-6) by a 7-6 (5), 6-2 count. The Spartan duo faces Katie Hammond and Erin Cole of Fond du Lac (25-4) at 11 a.m. today. Divine Savior won the team title, but Brookfield Central and East sent some singles and doubles players through to next week's state meet.
Brookfield Central hosted a WIAA girls tennis sectional championship on Wednesday. Divine Savior Holy Angels captured the team championship and will play in the state team tournament Oct. 21-22 in Madison. Brookfield East qualifiers for next week's individual tournament were No. 1 singles player Bridget Noack and No. 1 doubles tandem Sophie Carr and Simone Hussussian. Brookfield Central's No. 1 doubles team of Caroline Tries and Brooke Skemp also qualified.

The Brookfield East Girls Tennis Team competed in the Super 16 Tennis tournament in Green Bay Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 22 and 23. They had a third place finish against 16 other teams from the south and west areas of Wisconsin.
