Letter to Editor: Thompson Will Be a Reformer, Uniter

A Waukesha resident urges support of Tommy Thompson for U.S. Senate on Nov. 6th, saying he has a proven record of working across the aisle and eliminating job-killing regulations.

Letter to the Editor: The Nov. 6th election is fast approaching. I am writing in support of Tommy Thompson for U.S. Senate. I remember when Tommy Thompson eliminated job-killing regulations that helped create 740,000 new jobs! Today he can help Scott Walker bring jobs back to Wisconsin! He was the tax cutter extraordinaire saving taxpayers more than $16 million, he knows the danger of the growing national debt and he’s prepared to cut spending and reform entitlements ASAP! If Harry Reid is still Majority Leader after Nov. 6th, moving forward with reforms will be so much more difficult; legislation will be blocked. We not only need to win the Wisconsin Senate seat to help gain the majority, we will need Tommy Thompson in the U.S. Senate …

Tommy Thompson, the former Health and Human Services secretary who made millions treating 9/11 victims, invoked the wrath of 9/11 responders Tuesday by rolling out an ad that tries to profit off the terror attacks again -- this time for Thompson's Senate race. Thompson, the Republican running against Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) for the open Senate seat in the state, alleged in his ad that Baldwin…   more ›

Letter to Editor: Obama Has Failed at Jobs Creation

Brookfield woman says the real divide in America is not wealth and poverty but those who have jobs and those who don't. Giving President Barack Obama more time isn't going to fix that problem, she says.

Letter to the Editor: Instead of using the measurement of money to create a divide between the supposedly rich and the poor, which is being used to divide America, it is really a case of those with jobs and those without. If you have a job and earn a livable wage a person is not poor. You may have less than other people do, but there is always someone who has more than you do. It has always been that way.  Recently, the Economic Freedom of the World: 2012 Annual Report released by the Cato Institute in conjunction with the Fraser Institute of Canada has shown that Hong Kong retains the highest rating for economic freedom, followed by Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Bahrain, Mauritius, Finland and Chile. The world's …

Too Bad Bush did NOT continue to follow Clintons strategies. If he had we would now be debt free with a surplus! Instead of this hole republicans have dug for us and sabotage every effort for us to get out. Stimulus also stopped the decline in corporate profits that started under George W. Bush. Stimulus helped produce an increase of 22% per year in the first two years. Obama has had the slowest …   more ›

Letter to Editor: Vote Hutton to Help Grow Small Businesses

An Elm Grove couple say they plan to vote for Rob Hutton for the state's redrawn 13th Assembly district, citing his business experience as key in continuing job reforms.

Letter to the Editor: We are happy to support Rob Hutton for the 13th State Assembly District. His private sector experience as a business owner is the kind of leadership we need in Madison to encourage growth in Wisconsin. The gains Wisconsin made in 2010, then reaffirmed with Scott Walker's re-election, must be protected in the years to come. It’s extremely important to elect representatives at all levels that are committed to helping small businesses grow and produce jobs. Rob Hutton is one of those people who will work to protect the reforms and to help remove road blocks to job growth. As a business owner himself, Rob has experience dealing with government regulations that prohibit growth and understands how important small businesses…

Letter to Editor: Vote Hutton for Fiscal Sense, Family, Freedom

Republican Waukesha resident endorses Rob Hutton for 13th state Assembly district, saying he "will always support legislation that values life, family, freedom and fiscal responsibility."

Letter to the Editor: While we Wisconsinites have seen more than our share of elections over the past two years, the upcoming Republican Primary election on August 14th is extremely important. In the Brookfield area, which is part of the 13th Assembly District, Rob Hutton is the conservative Republican candidate who has the private sector experience, as a business owner, of actually creating jobs as well as serving the public as a Waukesha County Supervisor. His private sector experience has taught him that government cannot continue to tax job creators and impose unreasonable regulatory burdens driving up costs and forcing workers out of jobs.   Rob Hutton is a leader who understands fiscal responsibility and will represent the district …

I have no doubt Mr. Hutton is a man with strong traditional values, but his record as an elected representative is suspect. He only attended 64% of the Waukesha County Board meetings last year when he lived in and represented Sussex. He also arrived late and/or left meetings early more than almost all other supervisors. I'll be taking a look at the other candidates in this primary. Maybe one of …   more ›

Letter to Editor: Sally Ride's Death Underscores Need for Pancreatic Cancer Research

Sally Ride, the first female astronaut, died this week from pancreatic cancer. More research is needed to increase survival rates for the disease, says a writer whose relatives have died from the cancer.

Letter to the Editor: I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, who lost her 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She had an inspiring, accomplished career and is an icon in our nation’s history. Tragically, for those who have been touched by pancreatic cancer, 17-months is an exception, as 74 percent of patients die within the first year of diagnosis. Perhaps what is worse is that pancreatic cancer is one of the few cancers for which the relative five year survival rate, of just six percent, has not improved substantially in over 40 years since the passage of the National Cancer Act. My mother-in-law developed pancreatic cancer in 2009, and on the day she was buried in 2010, my …

Letter to Editor: Vote Hutton for Aug. 14 Assembly Primary

A letter-writer urges residents to vote for Hutton Aug. 14 for the state Assembly's 13th District, saying Hutton has conservative values, compassion and strong business experience.

Letter to the Editor: I would like to encourage you to vote for Rob Hutton for the State Assembly 13th District seat on August 14. I have known Rob for about 15 years through a business relationship and more on a personal level over the past year. As the leader and CEO of his company, Rob brings the experience that is necessary to bring people together, to provide vision, to provide encouragement, to provide accountability, to provide compassion to those in need, to provide skills that encourage economic development and jobs and to provide a stability to the process of politics. I say these things about Rob as I have witnessed his behavior in business and our community. I’m also the CEO of a company and a father of 8 children. I know what …

Letter to the Editor: Closing Hillside is Not the Answer

Brookfield Elementary School parent urges against closing Hillside and says the redistricting proposal lacks a true feeder system swing school. The School Board plans to vote on school closure tonight.

Letter to the Editor: As a homeowner and taxpayer in Brookfield, as well as a parent of children in the Elmbrook School District, I am deeply disgusted with Dr. Matt Gibson's recommendation to close Hillside Elementary School.  Yes, we are in a budget crunch and some of our schools are at a lower than desired capacity level, but closing Hillside is NOT the answer. During many of the community sessions, both this year and last, MANY viable suggestions were made to the board on how to save money and how to increase funds coming in. We do not believe the board has taken into consideration any of these suggestions. Their only solution to this problem is to close a school. Which, in the grand scheme of things, only saves a small portion of the …

Letter to the Editor: Vote No on Closing Hillside School

Brookfield resident urges the Elmbrook School Board to keep Hillside Elementary School open. The board plans to vote on school closure next week.

Letter to the Editor: I'm writing to express my reservations about the apparent "done deal" to close Hillside Elementary in the Elmbrook School District. This supposed money saving move will disrupt an otherwise smooth working operation amongst many students, families and neighborhoods. Numerous studies have been done and the district's studies don’t seem to jibe with other studies, numbers and projections as to true financial benefits of doing this. My sons will be deeply affected by this decision. My second grader would be moving to a different school, then back to the middle school, where he does indeed belong, with the small number of kids who were displaced because of the closing. He would not be attending school with the majority of …
