If you're shopping for shoes, of any kind, for yourself or the family, is there a reason to choose Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa or Brookfield Square Mall?
Two malls, six miles apart. Mayfair Mall and Brookfield Square are both premier regional shopping destinations, situated on major thoroughfares just off the freeway system. And each sells a lot of shoes, among many other things. Starting from the bottom — that is, with your soles — which mall would you prefer to shop at for footwear? We do shop with our feet, but leaving convenience of location as your last consideration, is there a reason to visit one mall or the other for preference in selection, fit and price? Shoes of all kinds are sold at each mall's anchor department stores, which are: At Brookfield Square: And at Mayfair Mall: As for straight-up shoe stores, including specialty children's and sports shoe shops, Brookfield Square …

Tosa police wanted a more serious charge, but district attorney settles for a Class A misdemeanor.
A Brookfield woman could have been charged with a felony for shoplifting a load of jewelry at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, but instead she faces a serious misdemeanor count of theft, according to police reports and court documents. Jane Elizabeth Montgomery, 28, was charged Thursday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court with "intentionally taking" less than $500 worth of property, punishable by up to nine months in jail. But according to police reports, Montgomery actually attempted to steal about twice that amount, in retail value, and the department requested a felony count that could have been punished with up to three years and six months in prison. At 9:20 p.m., last Monday, Montgomery was arrested on suspicion of theft from Boston Store at…

From humble beginnings, chain has gained a cachet for its overall quality and selection – yet sizing and fitting of its shoes remains a hallmark that has endeared it most of all.
When the developers of the coming Mayfair Collection in the Burleigh Triangle first hinted more than a year and a half ago that a Nordstrom Rack store would be a likely tenant, and more recently confirmed it, there was subdued excitement. "Nice to have the Nordstrom name here, finally," was the prevailing sentiment – "but wish it were a full-line Nordstrom store." After Thursday's announcement that Wauwatosa will, indeed, have its wish, a three-level Nordstrom department store at Mayfair Mall come late 2015, the enthusiasm of shoppers is nigh onto unbridled. "Very cool!" crowed Kim Wolff-Green on Wauwatosa Patch's Facebook page. Caley Clinton: "So. Excited." Beth Jaworski: "This is so fabulous! Woo hoo!" And from Carol Knuth: "Very …

Seattle-based Nordstrom on Thursday announced plans to open its first full-line store in Wisconsin at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, the largest mixed-use shopping center in Wisconsin. The company plans to open an approximately 140,000-square-foot, three-level store by fall 2015. Nordstrom will join Macy's, Boston Store, Crate & Barrel, the Apple Store and other major names at Mayfair. The store will be a new structure attached to the mall along the southeast side, between Boston Store and the office center, said Mayfair general manager Steve Smith. "There is now an entrance there, which will be changed and widened inside the mall to accommodate Nordstrom," Smith said. "And, we'll be adding a parking structure roughly between it and Boston …

While Master Builder Dan Steininger constructs huge sculpture of cartoon favorite Spongebob, legions of Legos fans wait in queue snaking half the length of mall.
Any parent who's ever stepped on a Lego barefoot or picked up a few thousand of them off the floor knows how popular the little plastic building blocks are with young kids. But all ages came out this weekend to inaugurate Wauwatosa's new Lego store at Mayfair Mall. "I had a couple ladies over here yesterday who were in their 80s that were building, so it's kids of all ages," Lego Master Builder Dan Steininger said Saturday. "There's 8-year-olds and 80-year-olds." Steininger was getting help in the central plaza of the mall, where tables were set with boxes of blocks and instructions on buidling modular parts of a giant Lego sculpture: an 8-foot-tall Spongebob Squarepants. Steininger built a one-quarter scale model out of small blocks and …

Sara from SarandipitySaves.com shares her Black Friday shopping tips and tricks, and a few of the top store's best deals.
There's some argument as to why we refer to the Friday following Thanksgiving as "Black Friday." Philadelphia claims their police force coined the term in the 1960s after throngs of folks took to the streets to shop 'till they dropped. Others say the name was adopted by retailers as it was traditionally the first day of the year in which their sales brought them out of the red and into the black. I'm leaning toward the latter explanation as last year more than 138 million consumers took advantage of the deep discounts of Black Friday, spending $45 billion in a single day. This year is expected to be an even bigger event. If you're gearing up to head out and throw elbows to snag the day's biggest steals, here's some tips on how to make it a…
