A New Berlin woman's salad days are behind her at Metro Market, where she had been giving weight-loss a new meaning. At 12:10 p.m. March 13, the 47-year-old woman was cited for retail theft after she was seen “manipulating the scale” while buying a salad at the store at 17630 Blue Mound Rd. The suspect was seen dishing up at the salad bar and then going to a self-checkout, where engaged in an act of "weight tampering." She didn't set the entire container down but held it by the edge and just touched it to the scale, recording "a fraction" of the full cost. She was detained and police were called. A Brookfield woman will serve four years probation and avoid prison after she gave oxycodone pills to a Waukesha man who later overdosed and died.
A Brookfield woman who provided the oxycodone that lead to the death of Waukesha resident Matthew D. Dziatkiewicz will avoid prison. Jessica J. Hintz, 26, pleaded guilty in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Thursday to felony first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs. Waukesha County Circuit Judge Kathryn Foster sentenced Hintz to four years probation. She could have faced up to 40 years in prison. Prosecutors said that in November 2011, Hintz got a bag of oxycodone pills from a friend at a bar in Milwaukee and late on Nov. 4, she ingested two while Dziatkiewicz, 25, took five of the pills and consumed alcohol. Milwaukee man faces charges after he sells drugs to officers on three occasions in Brookfield.
A 48-year-old Milwaukee man is facing felony charges after he allegedly sold drugs undercover police officers on three different occasions in Brookfield. Charles J. Powell was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court with two counts of delivery of a scheduled I or II narcotic and one count of manufacture and delivery of more than 1 gram of cocaine. If convicted, he faces up to 42½ years in prison and $125,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On May 23, an informant working with the Waukesha County Metro Drug Unit set up a deal with Powell where he agreed to sell 20 Oxycodone pills to the informant for $300 in the parking lot of Brookfield Square Mall. As prescription pain medication abuse continues to rise, area emergency rooms will likely go Oxy Free in the next few months, meaning patients might get a little more tough love.
Fed up with patients that don’t have legitimate reasons for taking prescription pain medications, emergency room physicians in southeastern Wisconsin will soon be giving large doses of tough love to patients who are doctor shopping. Nationally, narcotic prescription medication abuse, including abuse of oxycodone and oxycontin, is on the rise. So within the next few months hospitals in Milwaukee County are going “Oxy-free” and a Racine-based emergency department is also looking into doing the same. The information-sharing group includes officials from Froedtert Hospital, Wheaton Franciscan, Columbia-St. Mary's, and Aurora Health Care. Brookfield woman accused of supplying drugs that killed a 25-year-old man who overdosed at a Waukesha apartment, according to a criminal complaint.
A Brookfield woman was charged Wednesday with reckless homicide for allegedly supplying oxycodone to a Waukesha man who fatally overdosed. Jessica J. Hintz, 26, faces up to 40 years in prison if she is convicted of selling the oxycodone that killed Matthew D. Dziatkiewicz, 25, in November 2011. A warrant has been issued for her arrest on the homicide charge. According to the complaint: Officers from the Waukesha Police Department were dispatched to an apartment building at 1300 Blackhawk Trail at 12:44 a.m. Nov. 5 for the overdose. A Waukesha man tried to pass a forged prescription for pain killers after his physician's script was altered to authorize Oxycodone instead of a walking cane, a criminal complaint alleges. Nicholas M. Graefe, 31, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
