Meijer's plans to enter Wauwatosa and Sussex add to a rapidly crowding grocery market populated by Pick 'n Save, Target, Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe's and others. Is there enough business for everyone?

Since everybody has to eat every day, usually several times a day, there is an inevitability built into the grocery business. There will always be somebody ready to fill that need. My favorite is Woodman's but there isn't one close enough to me to shop there regularly yet. I do like Pick n Save, Piggly Wiggly and Aldi combined as 2nd choices. I do double coupons at pick n save to end up with free things sometimes and this really helps the budget. Aldi and Woodmans are good for everyday low prices.   more ›

Woman Accused of Buying Pizza Rolls, Rum With Forged Checks

Milwaukee woman was busted at a Brookfield Pick 'n Save after security officers recognized the name she used as being the same from past fraudulent transactions.

A Milwaukee woman bought groceries and liquor at a Brookfield Pick 'n Save using forged checks that stole another woman's identity, charges allege. Sheena D. McDade, 27, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with two counts of uttering a forgery. If convicted, she faces up to six years in prison and $20,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Thursday, McDade picked up a $50 gift card, drumstick ice cream novelties and pizza rolls from the Pick 'n Save at 12735 W. Capitol Dr. and attempted to pay for the items using the identity of Princess Whitfield. Store security recognized the name from past fraudulent transactions, so they contacted Brookfield police officers and confronted McDade after the transaction. …

Man Faces Robbery Charges After Hitting Grocer in Head with Baby Formula

A Milwaukee man tried to escape Pick 'n Save after stealing formula, but was thwarted by employees, charges allege.

A shoplifter hit a grocery store manager in the head with a bag of baby formula cans while trying to escape the store, charges allege. Nathaniel Wallace, 52, of Milwaukee, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with armed robbery, battery, possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of bail jumping. If convicted, he faces up to 16 1/2 years in prison and $70,500 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: About 8 p.m. Wednesday, an employee and security officer at Pick ‘n Save, 12735 W. Capitol Dr., saw Wallace hide several cans of baby formula in a bag. The pair recognized Wallace as a repeat shoplifter at the store and began to follow him. Monopoly $10K Dream Vacation Won by Area Family

Pick 'n Save presented a $10,000 check to a family who played the Monopoly game.

An Oak Creek resident has won a "$10,000 Dream Vacation" through Pick 'n Save's Monopoly game. Amy S. (she declined to give her last name) was presented with the check Wednesday at the Howell Avenue store. The Pick 'n Save game runs through Aug. 29. Customers collect game pieces, match them up to pictures on a game board and potentially win $4.5 million in prizes. Prizes include cash, groceries, cars, cruises, other vacations or a $250,000 dream home. Amy was the first customer to win the dream vacation. The family says it doesn't plan to go anywhere too exotic — just a trip up to Hayward.
