A 73-year-old Brookfield man is accused of assaulting a Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver after he became upset the bus was parked on Greenfield Avenue. Hubert G. Smith was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one felony count of battery to a public transit operator and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 21 months in prison and $11,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 6:23 p.m. Nov. 21, the bus driver had parked his bus in the 127000 block of West Greenfield Avenue for a layover, when Smith pulled up behind in his car, then got out and came on the bus. Apparently, flipping someone "the bird" is out and flipping objects out the window is in. In separate road rage complaints called in to Brookfield police last week, drivers were accused of throwing pennies or bottles and containers at other vehicles. A truck driver called police about 8 a.m. Nov. 7 to say the male driver of a black Lexus RX350 threw handfuls of pennies out his window at his truck, chipping his windshield and body paint. The truck driver said he was traveling west on Capitol Drive when the other driver threw pennies and then stopped at a light at 128th Street and got out of his Lexus, trying to start a fight with the truck driver. A road rage incident in the roundabout at Barker Road and North Avenue ended with a 12-year-old passenger throwing a drink out his window at the other motorist, police say. A 43-year-old woman called police at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday to complain that someone threw a soft drink at her car while she driving in the roundabout. According to police reports: The woman said the other car "came out of nowhere" and honked at her before throwing the drink. But a 23-year-old passenger in that other car said the woman had nearly caused an accident when she suddenly changed lanes in the roundabout without signaling.
