In 2012, Brookfield experienced a wave of openings from Yo Mama!, a popular yogurt chain, to a bar and grill that is sure to be a grand slam.

Kudos come in from a state commercial realtors association for Brookfield's new Target-anchored shopping center at which Trader Joe's opens Nov. 2.
Brookfield's newest shopping center — Underwood Crossing with Target, Trader Joe's and more — has been named retail development of the year by the Commercial Association of Realtors Wisconsin. Underwood Crossing is a class A, approximately 175,000-square-foot center at Bluemound Road and North 128th Street, developed by Ryan Companies US, Inc. In addition to a 140,000-square-foot Target with grocery, a Trader Joe's and PNC Bank are under construction and opening in November. The approved development includes future retail and restaurant, such as a frozen yogurt shop, hair salon and "fast-casual" eatery. Among other big-name companies and organizations, Amway Home, the Knights of Columbus and the son of Wal-Mart's founder have used their checkbooks to express opposition to gay marriage. Nine other companies, organizations and prominent individuals have recently donated money to anti-gay marriage organizations after thousands of "traditional marriage" supporters flew to their local Chick-fil-a restaurants nationwide for a national "eat-in," according to the Huffington Post. The new Target store in Brookfield will open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, with a grand opening ceremony slated for Sunday, July 29. On Tuesday night, key project leaders and city officials were invited to an early preview to check out the new store built in the new retail complex Underwood Crossing where Trader Joe's is under construction. The new Target store includes a grocery with fresh produce, meats and bakery items, as well as a pharmacy, Target Café and Starbucks. The store still wasn't listed on the map of Target's locations on its website as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. My favorite is Woodman's but there isn't one close enough to me to shop there regularly yet. I do like Pick n Save, Piggly Wiggly and Aldi combined as 2nd choices. I do double coupons at pick n save to end up with free things sometimes and this really helps the budget. Aldi and Woodmans are good for everyday low prices.   more ›
