Police Reports: Impaired Car Hints at Impaired Driver

Driving down the main drag on two flat tires, a Brookfield man calls himself to the attention of a patrol officer who finds he wasn't fit to be driving at all.

At 1:42 a.m. Jan. 6, a 38-year-old Brookfield man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, first offense, after a patrol officer spotted him on Blue Mound Road driving on two flat rear tires. The officer pulled him over in the parking lot of Great Midwest Bank, 15900 Blue Mound Rd., and noted immediately that the man smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. The driver told the officer he was coming from the New Berlin Ale House and admitted having had “a little” to drink. When the officer asked him how both his rear tires came to be flat, he said, “They both just popped.” He failed field sobriety tests and blew a .13 blood alcohol concentration on an evidentiary breath test. Boy Caught After Brief Madison Park Crime Spree

Teenager's infractions quickly escalated from misdemeanors to felonies.

In the space of just a week, a 16-year-old Brookfield runaway's spree of crime in a Wauwatosa neighborhood took him from entering unlocked cars to burglary to auto theft, according to police reports. He was arrested Wednesday in Milwaukee, sleeping in a stolen minivan. Beginning Oct. 19, numerous reports of cars being entered and rifled began coming in from an area of just a few blocks in Tosa's northernmost neighborhood, west of Madison Park. In two instances on successive nights, Oct. 21 and 22, residents spotted the unknown youth rummaging through their cars and chased him off. Then, once over the weekend and again on Tuesday, residents reported that their garages had been forcibly broken into – in one case, it was an attached garage …
