Man Hides Weed in Sleeping Child's Fist, Police Say

Police say the suspect claims the child may have gotten the marijuana from the floor of the car, but the child is belted in.

A 25-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of trying to hide a baggie of marijuana inside the hand of a sleeping 4-year-old in the back of his car. Sedrick D. Sanders was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with possession of THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, he faces up to six months in prison and $1,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a Brookfield police officer was monitoring traffic on North Avenue near Lilly Road when Sanders was spotted doing 50 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour speed zone. The officer pulled Sanders over near Pilgrim Square Drive and began to investigate the stop as a possible intoxicated driver. Sanders had an infant and 4-year-old child…

Repeat Drunken Driver Sped Past Officer, Charges Say

Suspect was charged with his fifth offense drunken drunk driving and possession of marijuana.

A Hales Corners man drove drunk in front of a Brookfield police officer early Monday morning, charges allege. Joseph C. Chojnacki, 32, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday with one count of fifth offense operating while intoxicated, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, he faces up to 4 1/2 years in prison and $20,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 2:20 a.m. Monday, a Brookfield police officer spotted Chojnacki driving eastbound on Capitol Drive near 165th Street, traveling 55 miles per hour in a 45-mph speed zone. POLL: Would You Turn in Your Child for Marijuana Possession?

Balancing the lesson taught by dealing with law enforcement against the consequences of having drug possession on their child's record is the dilemma facing parents.

The arrest of an 18-year-old in Muskego for marijuana possession sparked a conversation on Patch about the responsibility of parents in relation to their child’s drug use. In this particular case, the teen wouldn’t let police search his car despite their suspicions, but when his mother arrived she gave the go-ahead and the man was arrested and charged with marijuana possession. Commenters raised both sides of the argument on behalf of the mother. Was she a good parent for refusing to cover for her son’s lawbreaking behavior? A 29-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing charges after Town of Brookfield police officers found a prescription pill in her purse while investigating an incident at an area motel. Ashley H. Schroeder was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of possession of an illegally obtained prescription. If convicted, she faces up to six months in jail and $500 in fines. Will, 17, was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of possession with intent to deliver THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Two Accused of Selling $4K in Pot to Police Informant

Two men sold $4,300 worth of marijuana to a police informant over the course of three meetings in the parking lot of Brookfield Square mall, charges allege. Devin M. Kornuth, 18, of West Allis, and Michael A. Terry, 23, of Milwaukee, each were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Thursday with three counts of manufacture and delivery of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, they each face up to 10 ½ years in prison and $30,000 in fines.
